A single, large wave struck the MSC Divina as it was departing St. Juan, Puerto Rico on route to the Bahamas. One porthole was damaged and two passengers received slight injuries, but the ship could continue on it’s sailing.
According to a statement by cruise line MSC, the wave struck the ship at 11:40pm local time while it was leaving St. Juan. One of two passengers in the affected cabin sustained minor abrasions.
“The safety and wellbeing of guests and crew are MSC Cruises’ number one priority, and onboard technicians immediately sealed the damaged porthole. As a further precaution, MSC Cruises has given alternative cabins to the guests from the affected cabin and those adjacent to it.”
MSC Divina continued on it’s sailing.
